Nature of God

Jesus is deity but not part of a Trinity:

The Bible tells us the Father is greater than the Son

by Bill Wong

There are many places in the Bible (including the Lord and the apostles) which tell us the Father is greater than the Son and prove that the Trinitarian view of the son being the equal of His father is not true:

Matthew 24:

36 “But of that day and hour no one knows, not even the angels of heaven, but My Father only.

John 10:

29"My Father, who has given them to Me, is greater than all; and no one is able to snatch them out of the Father's hand.

John 13:

16"Truly, truly, I say to you, a slave is not greater than his master, nor is one who is sent greater than the one who sent him.

John 14:

28"You heard that I said to you, 'I go away, and I will come to you ' If you loved Me,

you would have rejoiced because I go to the Father, for the Father is greater than I.

1 Corinthians 11:

But I want you to understand that Christ is the head of every man, and the man is the head of a woman,

and God is the head of Christ.

1 Corinthians 15:

24 then comes the end, when He hands over the kingdom to the God and Father,

when He has abolished all rule and all authority and power.

25 For He must reign until He has put all His enemies under His feet.

26 The last enemy that will be abolished is death.

"All things are put in subjection," it is evident that He is excepted who put all things in subjection to Him.

28  When all things are subjected to Him, then the Son Himself also will be subjected

the One who subjected all things to Him, so that God may be all in all.

Ephesians 4:

6  one God and Father of all who is over all and through all and in all.

However, the Trinity doctrine expects us to ignore the Bible including making the Lord’s own words mean nothing in order to fit into its ideology. It says that the Lord Jesus and the disciples only call the Father is greater, because the Lord Jesus is playing the role of the Son. The doctrine calls this subordination. But where does the Bible say this?

The Trinity doctrine also says Jesus was in His human form and not glorified or more precisely, Jesus was limited by His human side, because He is now the God-man – half God and half man. However, this is not what the Bible teaches either.

A Trinity doctrine changes the meaning of the Lord Jesus’ words as well as the meaning of what 'son' is to say something entirely different than the Bible in order to fit the doctrine.

The Bible tells us that God cannot be contained:

1 Kings 8:

27  “But will God indeed dwell on the earth? Behold, heaven and the heaven of heavens cannot contain You.

How much less this temple which I have built!             (NKJV)

But yet deity did take the form of a man in Christ:

Colossians 2:

9   For in Christ all the fullness of the Deity lives in bodily form,         (NIV)

Unless God is contradicting Himself, His son cannot be greater than His father. The father is greater and cannot be contained, but His son is not His equal and can be contained in a bodily form. If one stops to think about it, this is the very reason why God sent forth His son and why EVERYTHING is done through His son. It is why we need a mediator to approach God and why the Lord Jesus is that mediator:

1 Timothy 2:

5  For there is one God and one Mediator between God and men, the Man Christ Jesus,     (NKJV)

It is why only the Father seeks glory and the one who directs glory to Him cannot be greater:

John 8:

50  But I do not seek My glory; there is One who seeks and judges.

The Trinity doctrine’s reasons to ignore the unambiguous words of the Lord Jesus and the apostles have no merit and the doctrine is false.

Otherwise, how can the Lord Jesus call His father also His God:

Revelation 3:

12   He who overcomes, I will make him a pillar in the temple of My God, and he shall go out no more.

I will write on him the name of My God and the name of the city of My God, the New Jerusalem,

which comes down out of heaven from My God. And I will write on him My new name.     (NKJV)

You simply cannot be greater than your God. And notice the Lord Jesus was already glorified when He tells us this.

The Lord Jesus is deity, but not as described in a Trinity doctrine.
