The Holy Spirit is Missing in Heaven

by Bill Wong

He is nowhere to be found on earth, in heaven or the restored world. The Holy Spirit is missing.

If the Holy Spirit is indeed a 3rd person in a Godhead who is co-equal with God the Father and the Son of God, the Lord Jesus Christ as the Trinity doctrine espouses, then the Bible should show the Holy Spirit as being another person present among the other two members of the Trinity. This would be especially true in heaven or

any place where the 3rd person should “rightfully” be present.

But do we find this in our quest to seek God’s truth? Does the Bible truth reveal this?

Is the Holy Spirit found even once anywhere on heaven and earth alongside the other two supposed members of the Trinity? No, this 3rd person is nowhere to be found. His absence speaks volumes and what we should loudly hear and know is this: a 3rd person Holy Spirit cannot be found with the Father and His son simply because he does not exist. This is a straightforward truth and cannot be worked around or explained away.

When the Lord Jesus returns, with whose glory does He say He comes? The absence of the Holy Spirit is shocking given the fact that even the glory of the angels of God are mentioned.

Luke 9:

26  For whoever is ashamed of Me and My words, of him the Son of Man will be ashamed when He comes in His own glory,

and in His Father’s, and of the holy angels.   (NKJV)

And again, we find that the elect angels of God take precedence over the 3rd co-equal member of the Trinity who is again absent:

1 Timothy 5:

21  I solemnly charge you in the presence of God and of Christ Jesus and of His chosen angels,

to maintain these principles without bias, doing nothing in a spirit of partiality.    (NASB)

Of course, these two examples where the Father, Son and the angels of God are mentioned together without any hint at all of a Holy Spirit 3rd person should be proof enough that there is no 3rd person in a Trinitarian Godhead. This is especially so since Luke 9:26 covers one of the most momentous events in all eternity – the Lord’s return which all believers earnestly await for; and 1 Timothy 5:21 covers not just an event, but wherever God is present and the apostle Paul is referring to those with authority in heaven – which is God, His son Jesus and the elect angels.

We see the presence of God, the Lord Jesus and the chosen angels together once again with a Holy Spirit 3rd person clearly missing in Revelation 14, but this time it is in heaven itself.

Revelation 14:

10  he also will drink of the wine of the wrath of God, which is mixed in full strength in the cup of His anger;

and he will be tormented with fire and brimstone in the presence of the holy angels and in the presence of the Lamb.     (NASB)

It should be evident to the earnest Bible truth seeker that the Holy Spirit cannot be a 3rd co-equal person in a Trinity if even the angels of God have more power and authority and are mentioned in place of this supposed Holy Spirit 3rd person.   But the Bible gives us even more examples of this 3rd person Holy Spirit mysteriously being absent.

In Acts 7, Stephen – the very first martyr who dies preaching the truth of God, sees only God the father and His son Jesus in heaven:

Acts 7:

56  and he said, "Behold, I see the heavens opened up and the Son of Man standing at the right hand of God."    (NASB)

In the very same chapter we are told the heavens and earth will be made anew and God will dwell with us forever, we are told the Father and His son the Lamb are the temple and light of this recreated heavens and earth. They are the ones who will dwell with us forevermore and there is no mention of a third co-equal person who will be with us forever. The absence of the Holy Spirit in this new creation and not having any role in it clearly shows us that there a 3rd person or a “triune” godhead does not exist.

Revelation 21:

1  Then I saw a new heaven and a new earth; for the first heaven and the first earth passed away, and there is no longer any sea.

2  And I saw the holy city, new Jerusalem, coming down out of heaven from God, made ready as a bride adorned for her husband.

3  And I heard a loud voice from the throne, saying, "Behold, the tabernacle of God is among men, and He will dwell among them,

and they shall be His people, and God Himself will be among them,    (NASB)

Revelation 21:

22  I saw no temple in it, for the Lord God the Almighty and the Lamb are its temple.

23  And the city has no need of the sun or of the moon to shine on it, for the glory of God has illumined it,

and its lamp is the Lamb.    (NASB)

And again, only God and Jesus has a throne:

Revelation 3:

21   To him who overcomes I will grant to sit with Me on My throne,

as I also overcame and sat down with My Father on His Throne.   (NKJV)

Revelation 22:

1    And he showed me a pure river of water of life, clear as crystal, proceeding from the throne of God and of the Lamb.

2   In the middle of its street, and on either side of the river, was the tree of life, which bore twelve fruits,

each tree yielding its fruit every month. The leaves of the tree were for the healing of the nations.

3   And there shall be no more curse, but the throne of God and of the Lamb shall be in it,

and His servants shall serve Him.    (NKJV)

In the throne room of God (Acts 7:55-56; Daniel 7:9-14; Revelation chapters 4 & 5; 7:10-12), although the Father and Christ are seen, the Holy Spirit is never seen. Jesus is repeatedly mentioned as being at the right hand of God, but no one is mentioned as being at the Father's left hand or beside Jesus, and when there are others besides Christ as being in God’s presence, it is the chosen angels as we have read earlier. Nowhere are three divine persons pictured together in the Scriptures.

The Bible tells us that only God and the Lord Jesus are worshipped, so not only is a Holy Spirit 3rd person missing in the presence of God and Jesus, but he is also missing in any conversation regarding who we can worship:

Revelation 5:

13  And every created thing which is in heaven and on the earth and under the earth and on the sea, and all things in them,

I heard saying, "To Him who sits on the throne, and to the Lamb, be blessing and honor and glory and dominion forever and ever."

14  And the four living creatures kept saying, "Amen " And the elders fell down and worshiped.

In the last book of the Bible, the Book of Revelation, the Holy Spirit as a 3rd person is conspicuously absent in its pages.   This is a remarkable exclusion if a Trinity is true. After all, this is the book of final things. Everything and everyone is mentioned in it: God is mentioned, the Lamb is mentioned, the new Jerusalem, heavens and earth are mentioned, the heavenly host is mentioned, the saints are mentioned, even the enemy and his minions are mentioned. But yet the Holy Spirit is NOT mentioned at all.

The Bible truth tells us that when presented with the opportunities to expound on the nature of God, the Lord Jesus never mentions a triune nature of God in all His 3.5 years of ministry. And there were countless volumes of things which the Lord Jesus did and said when He was here on earth, as the apostle John attests to:

John 21:

25   And there are also many other things that Jesus did, which if they were written one by one,

I suppose that even the world itself could not contain the books that would be written. Amen.   (NKJV)

We must remember that the Book of Revelation is the revelation of Jesus Christ. Yet again in the final word of the Bible (and the Lord is the Word of God), the Lord makes absolutely no reference to the Holy Spirit as a 3rd person or a Trinity.

There can only be one conclusion from this absence – the holy spirit is NOT a person and a Trinity does not exist.
