God's Salvation Plan in the Biblical Feast Days

 - Feast of Trumpets (Feast of Shouting-Blowing Shofar / Yom Teruah)
by Bill Wong

As the first Biblical holy feast day in the Fall season of the year, the Feast of Trumpets is the focal point of end-time prophecy.  It continues the salvation plan of God with the Son of God and Messiah, Yahusha (Yahushua or Yeshua/Jesus) as the chief cornerstone: from the Spring feast days which He already fulfilled in Himself at His first coming (eg. Jesus is our Passover, 1 Corinthians 5:7) to Pentecost which is only partially fulfilled and is the bridge directly to the Fall feast days and the Feast of Trumpets.  As such, the Feast of Trumpets points to the return and Second Coming of Jesus on this feast day and how He will literally live out this and the remaining Fall feasts.  It also tells us about many things that are prophesied to happen first before His return, such as the coming Antichrist who is the false/counterfeit Messiah, the Great Tribulation and why the pre-tribulation rapture doctrine is not true.

4.  Feast of Trumpets  (Feast of Shouting-Blowing Shofar / Yom Teruah)

The 1st day of the seventh month.  The only annual holy day on the 1st day of the month and therefore based on the occurrence of a new moon:

Leviticus 23:23-25

NOTE:  New moons (chodesh” – Strong's #2320; the visible crescent over Jerusalem) mark the beginning of months, so the Feast of Trumpets follows what is prescribed by the Almighty – that the sun and the moon are to be signs and markers for God’s appointed times (seasons):

Genesis 1:

14   Then God said, "Let there be lights in the firmament of the heavens to divide the day from the night; and let them be for signs and seasons, and for days and years;   (NKJV)

The English word trumpet is a translation of the Hebrew word teruah which is not an actual trumpet or ram's horn (shofar) used as a sounding/musical instrument.  ‘Teruah’ means the loud blast of sound or loud shouts that are created by a trumpet or voice:

Strong's Hebrew dictionary word #8643 defines teruah as:

-    a shout or blast of war, alarm or joy

Brown-Driver-Brigg’s Old Testament Hebrew-English Lexicon defines ‘teruah’ as:

          -    alarm of war, war-cry; blast for march; shout of joy with religious impulse; shout of joy

The name ‘Feast of Trumpets’ alludes to the loud blast of the shofar, but as we can see the actual word is ‘teruah’ and means a loud sound from the shofar or shouting.  So ‘Yom Teruah’ means “Day of the (alarming/loud) Shouts/Trumpet blast(s)”.

In Holy Scripture, shouts can be created from either the voice or a shofar.  But there are only nine events where the word ‘shofar’ is actually accompanied with the word ‘teruah’ as a shout of alarm or with “religious impulse”.  They are: the victory over Jericho in Joshua 6:5, 20; bringing the Ark of the Covenant to Jerusalem for the first time in 2 Samuel 6:15/1 Chronicles 15:28; taking an oath before God in 2 Chronicles 15:12-15; the alarm of war in Jeremiah 4:19; description of war in Amos 2:2; announcing the Day of the LORD in Zephaniah 1:14-16; God’s description of the strength and bravery of the horse in Job 39:24-25; God defending His people in Psalm 47:5; and praising God in Psalm 98:6.

Tanakh -

Though 'teruah' does not actually mean trumpet, but it means any loud sound, shout or blast of alarm, war or joy/excitement (as related to God and His purposes specifically), Israel observes as a memorial of blasts of blowing trumpets/the shofar.  Though this holy day has the blowing of the shofar, Scripture does not actually tell us why we are to blow the shofar this day.

However, Scripture tells us there are many reasons why the shofar is blown and what it represents:

  • Announcing the coming of God (Exodus 19:16-20)
    •  the 1st mention of blowing the shofar when He descends upon Mount Sinai
  • On appointed times/holy days and new moons (Leviticus 25:8-10; Psalm 81:3)
  • Walls of Jericho fell (Joshua 6:1-20) / Gideon's victory (Judges 7:13-22)
    • the destruction of Israel's enemies
  • Bringing the Ark of the Covenant to the City of David, Jerusalem (2 Samuel 6:12-15)
  • Praising God (Psalm 98:6; 150:1-3)
  • Crowning a king (1 Kings 1:33-34, 38-39; 2 Kings 9:1-13)
  • Taking an oath before God (2 Chronicles 15:12-15)
  • Warning/alert/wake-up call (Isaiah 18:3; Ezekiel 33:2-6)
  • Call to war (Jeremiah 4:19; 51:27)
  • Call to assemble/gather Israel (Jeremiah 4:5; Joel 2:15; Isaiah 27:13)
  • Announcing the Day of the LORD (Joel 2:1; Zephaniah 1:14-16)
  • God defends His people (Psalm 47:5)
  • Announcing arrival of King Messiah (Zechariah 9:9-16)

Jews observe this as their (civil) new year (Rosh Hashanah - head of the year). A series of trumpet blasts are blown to announce the establishment of the heavenly court for judgment with this holy day beginning the 10 "Days of Awe" which end with the next holy day, the Day of Atonement, considered to be the most holy, important and solemn day of the year.  The "Days of Awe" have a theme of introspection, repentance and judgment when the books of judgment are opened in heaven; looking for forgiveness for the past year, while looking for blessings and positive things for the next year, always with the hope of being sealed with a good judgment and everlasting life.  Some Jews expect the Messiah's arrival to be heralded by trumpets on this day for His wedding, to take the bride away from the wrath to come.

B'rit Hadashah (NT) -

The Bible declares that trumpets will be blown in a time yet future where it will represent many of these things.  The trumpet will sound to announce the return of the Lord Jesus who will execute judgment upon the enemies of God and be recognized by Israel and the entire world as King Messiah.

He will gather all Israel to Jerusalem for the return of the Messiah

Isaiah 18:3; 27:12-13 (the call to return to Israel is likened to a greater Exodus – Isaiah 11:11-16; Zechariah 10:10-11)

Joel 2:1, 15

The 7 trumpet judgments are blown during the Tribulation:

Revelation 11:15-19 (7th trumpet judgment blown; trumpets 1-6 started in chapters 8 and 9)

The Lord Jesus' return will be with the trumpet of God to announce His arrival and He gathers God's people as they are taken up to Him (this is the first resurrection of Revelation 20:4-6), when He will also wage war against Israel's enemies:

Zechariah 9:9-16; 14:1-4

(Jesus will return the same way He left: He left from the Mount of Olives into heaven and will return from heaven and the sky upon the Mount of Olives; compare with Acts 1:9-12)

Matthew 24:29-31

1 Corinthians 15:50-52

1 Thessalonians 4:13-18

As we can see, there will be many trumpets being blown.  There will be a period of time with multiple trumpets heralding multiple events, showing an important sequence of events in the salvation plan of God.

This feast day can represent many of these reasons trumpets are blown all together (it is a memorial of 'teruah' – trumpet blasts and/or shouts), but this is the holy day that many people believe when the Lord Jesus will most likely return for His bride and we can understand why since the trumpet blast represents many momentous events including the arrival of royalty and God.

With all the reasons why trumpets (shofars) can be used on the Feast of Trumpets, how can we know that the Lord Jesus will return on the Feast of Trumpets?

There are four main reasons cited for the belief that the Feast of Trumpets is the day the Lord Jesus will most likely return:

1.  This is the one reason that is not indicated specifically as can be seen by its absence from the lists of occurrences above.  However, it is the most important of all, because it pertains the groom – Messiah, and His bride – believers.  Within the context of ancient Hebrew wedding customs, the groom’s return for his bride is heralded by his friends with much fanfare and loud shouts of joy and proclamation (both meanings of 'teruah' --- loud/alarming blasts of trumpets and shouts), and would be a good fit and reason for the Feast of Trumpets.  Also, the groom comes in secret (see item #4 below).  When Messiah comes again, appearing in the sky (1 Thessalonians 4:13-17; Matthew 24:29-31; 1 Corinthians 15:52), the trumpet will be blown.  At the blowing of the shofar, He will gather His elect who is His bride.

2.  The blowing of trumpets also announces the arrival and/or coronation of a king.  He will return as conquering King over the nations of the earth (Psalm 2; Revelation 17:12-14; 19:11-16) and put down the enemies of God.

3.  The last time God made His presence known in great majesty was in Exodus 19:16-20 when He descended upon Mount Sinai amidst the long and loud sounding of the shofar.  We know that when the Lord Jesus returns, His feet will stand on the Mount of Olives (Acts 1:9-12; Zechariah 14:4), splitting it in two.  We would expect that Jesus’ return in glory will be announced in some manner, and for it to also be with a long and loud sounding shofar blast.

4.  No one knows the exact day or hour the Lord Jesus will return (Matthew 24:36; 25:13; Mark 13:32) which is partially explained by the Feast of Trumpets, because it is the only feast day that occurs on the first day of the month and therefore is based on the new moon.  This day is actually sometimes referred to as "the day no one knows the day or the hour" exactly because knowing when the new moon is involves discernment of the new moon (first visible crescent) after the old moon has waned and disappeared.  It will be very difficult amidst the chaos of war, persecution, natural disasters, etc. to know when the new moon has occurred.  This reason #4 goes hand-in-hand with reason #1 --- it is a "secret" or "unknown" when the groom will come for His bride.

In addition to the end time catastrophes, the witness of God's holy word, the Bible tells us that it will be impossible to know.  With the moon not giving its light before the return of Messiah (Joel 3:14-17); that day being a day like no other without day or night (Zechariah 14:4-7); time turning back for Hezekiah (Isaiah 38:1-8); and the sun and moon had once stood still during battle (Joshua 10:7-14; is Joshua again a prophetic type for the Lord Jesus’ return? (note: Joshua is a more accurate Anglicized version of the Messiah's Hebrew name)), we may be warned at that time that Jesus’ return is soon/imminent, but we will not know exactly when by the new moon.

It should be noted whether one believes the new month/new moon starts with the conjunction (moon is dark between the sun and the earth) or at the visible crescent coming out of dark, that all the difficulties in discerning the start of the month listed above will apply to all these methods.

The Bible truth of the matter is that Jesus will return on the Feast of Trumpets for all four of the reasons given above.

Further evidence that Messiah's return will be on the Feast of Trumpets is the fact that the last trumpet in 1 Corinthians 15:52 can refer to the ancient Hebrew custom that calls the trumpet blown on the Feast of Trumpets “the Last Trumpet” (shofar):

1 Corinthians 15:

50   Now I say this, brethren, that flesh and blood cannot inherit the kingdom of God; nor does the perishable inherit the imperishable.

51   Behold, I tell you a mystery; we will not all sleep, but we will all be changed,

52   in a moment, in the twinkling of an eye, at the last trumpet; for the trumpet will sound, and the dead will be raised imperishable, and we will be changed.

53   For this perishable must put on the imperishable, and this mortal must put on immortality.    (NASB)

Where there is a “Last Trumpet”, there is a “First Trumpet”.  The “First Trumpet” according to ancient Hebrew custom was the shofar blown on Pentecost/Feast of Weeks (Shavuot) when God descended upon Mount Sinai to give the Law:

Exodus 19:

16   So it came about on the third day, when it was morning, that there were thunder and lightning flashes and a thick cloud upon the mountain and a very loud trumpet sound, so that all the people who were in the camp trembled.

17   And Moses brought the people out of the camp to meet God, and they stood at the foot of the mountain.

18   Now Mount Sinai was all in smoke because the LORD descended upon it in fire; and its smoke ascended like the smoke of a furnace, and the whole mountain quaked violently.

19   When the sound of the trumpet grew louder and louder, Moses spoke and God answered him with thunder.

20   The LORD came down on Mount Sinai, to the top of the mountain; and the LORD called Moses to the top of the mountain, and Moses went up.    (NASB)

The two trumps (“First” and “Last”) are believed to be the two shofars/ram’s horns from the ram caught in the thicket when Abraham was about to sacrifice Isaac.

Therefore, the first and last trumpets (shofars) signify the arrival of God in majesty and great glory.  The first occurred on Pentecost on Mount Sinai and the last will occur at Messiahs return on a future Feast of Trumpets.  This verifies that there remains only one return of Messiah which will be both highly visible and highly audible as Scripture declares.

The marriage of the Lamb follows exactly the pattern of the ancient Hebrew wedding.   Even though the New Testament was written in Greek, it is about the Hebrews (and Jesus is a Jew) and so even if the Hebrew word ‘teruah’ is not in the text, we can see where ‘teruah’ would be used for shouts of joy and blasts of the shofar.  For example, when the groom comes for his bride, his friends herald his arrival with trumpets and shouts (‘teruah’), such as “Behold, the bridegroom comes!” while the shofar is blown. This is exactly what we see:

1 Thessalonians 4:

16   For the Lord Himself will descend from heaven with a shout, with the voice of the archangel and with the trumpet of God,

and the dead in Christ will rise first.

17   Then we who are alive and remain will be caught up together with them in the clouds to meet the Lord in the air, and so we shall always be with the Lord.   (NASB)

Matthew 25:
6    "And at midnight a cry was heard: 'Behold, the bridegroom is coming; go out to meet him!'    (NKJV)

We must importantly note that the blowing of the trumpets on this future Feast of Trumpets to herald His return may not actually mean His feet will touch down on the earth the same day as described in Zechariah 14 below (as the angels say in Acts 1:9-12, the Messiah leaves from the Mount of Olives into the heavens and will return in reverse manner, coming from the heavens onto the Mount of Olives):

Zechariah 14:

4   In that day His feet will stand on the Mount of Olives, which is in front of Jerusalem on the east; and the Mount of Olives will be split in its middle from east to west by a very large valley, so that half of the mountain will move toward the north and the other half toward the south.

He may appear in the skies above, but only come down upon the Mount of Olives several days later.  The reason for this is because of the ancient Hebrew wedding customs: after the groom takes his bride, they are wed and go away for 7 days to the wedding chamber and then after these 7 days both bride and groom come out to greet their guests for the wedding supper.  This means the wedding and time in the wedding chamber will likely occur in the days between the Feast of Trumpets (1st day of the 7th month) and the first day of the Feast of Tabernacles/Sukkot (15th day of the 7th month) where the Feast of Tabernacles is the wedding supper.  The Day of Atonement/Yom Kippur is in-between (10th day of the 7th month).

One final reason why the Lord will return on a Feast of Trumpets/Yom Teruah is one we must not forget.  It concerns solely with the definition of ‘teruah’ as loud “shouts of joy with religious impulse”.  When the savior of Israel arrives to save her at her darkest hour as Israel is surrounded by enemies and she finally realizes He is her Messiah who came once before and now again, will there be loud shouts of joy with religious impulse? Will they finally and very loudly shout to their Messiah: “Blessed is He who comes in the name of the LORD”:

Matthew 23:

37   "O Jerusalem, Jerusalem, the one who kills the prophets and stones those who are sent to her! How often I wanted to gather your children together, as a hen gathers her chicks under her wings, but you were not willing!

38   See! Your house is left to you desolate;

39   for I say to you, you shall see Me no more till you say, 'Blessed is He who comes in the name of the LORD!' "     (NKJV)

Indeed, believers did when at His first coming, so why would all Israel who will finally have the veil removed from her eyes at His second coming not also do the same?  All Israel will have a greater multitude raising their voice and it is unimaginable how awesome and joyful their shouts will be when they see that their Messiah has come to save them and it is the one whom they have shunned for so long (and add to this the truth that He is coming as a groom for His bride among the shouts and trumpet blasts of the groom's party):

Matthew 21:

1    Now when they drew near Jerusalem, and came to Bethphage, at the Mount of Olives, then Jesus sent two disciples,

2    saying to them, "Go into the village opposite you, and immediately you will find a donkey tied, and a colt with her. Loose them and bring them to Me.

3    And if anyone says anything to you, you shall say, 'The Lord has need of them,' and immediately he will send them."

4    All this was done that it might be fulfilled which was spoken by the prophet, saying:

5    " Tell the daughter of Zion, ' Behold, your King is coming to you, Lowly, and sitting on a donkey, A colt, the foal of a donkey.' "

6    So the disciples went and did as Jesus commanded them.

7    They brought the donkey and the colt, laid their clothes on them, and set Him on them.

8    And a very great multitude spread their clothes on the road; others cut down branches from the trees and spread them on the road.

9    Then the multitudes who went before and those who followed cried out, saying: " Hosanna to the Son of David! ' Blessed is He who comes in the name of the LORD!' Hosanna in the highest!"

10   And when He had come into Jerusalem, all the city was moved, saying, "Who is this?"

11   So the multitudes said, "This is Jesus, the prophet from Nazareth of Galilee."    (NKJV)

Matthew 21 quotes from a prophecy in Zechariah 9:9-10, and just like Messiah quoting from Isaiah 61 verse 1 and part of verse 2 in Luke 4:16-21, only the first part (verse 9) of Zechariah 9 below was fulfilled at His first coming, but the second part (verse 10) will be fulfilled at His second coming:

Zechariah 9:

9    " Rejoice greatly, O daughter of Zion! Shout, O daughter of Jerusalem! Behold, your King is coming to you; He is just and having salvation, Lowly and riding on a donkey, A colt, the foal of a donkey.

10   I will cut off the chariot from Ephraim And the horse from Jerusalem; The battle bow shall be cut off. He shall speak peace to the nations; His dominion shall be 'from sea to sea, And from the River to the ends of the earth.'     (NKJV)

All indications seem to point to the Lord Jesus’ return to be on the Feast of Trumpets – Yom Teruah (in some manner combining item #s 1 through 4 above and the final reason just above when Israel shouts in acknowledgement of her Messiah when He arrives again).  However, we must be aware that because of the reasons given in item #4 above, knowing when the 1st day of the month is (when there is a new moon) is virtually impossible.  This tells us that we will truly not be able to know when the day has arrived until the Lord is already upon us.  We may know the approximate time, that it will be during the season of the Fall feast days, but finding out when it actually begins might be out of reach.

However, God tells us to be alert, prepared and look for the signs He gives us.  His word gives us a road map.

In Matthew 24, we are told that after great tribulation and after the signs in the heavens occur, we will see the sign of the Son of Man in heaven and Messiah will return – and we will both see Him and hear Him:

Matthew 24:

3   Now as He sat on the Mount of Olives, the disciples came to Him privately, saying, "Tell us, when will these things be? And what will be the sign of Your coming, and of the end of the age?"

4   And Jesus answered and said to them: "Take heed that no one deceives you.

5   For many will come in My name, saying, 'I am the Christ,' and will deceive many.

6   And you will hear of wars and rumors of wars. See that you are not troubled; for all these things must come to pass, but the end is not yet.

7   For nation will rise against nation, and kingdom against kingdom. And there will be famines, pestilences, and earthquakes in various places.

8   All these are the beginning of sorrows.

9   "Then they will deliver you up to tribulation and kill you, and you will be hated by all nations for My name's sake.

10   And then many will be offended, will betray one another, and will hate one another.

11   Then many false prophets will rise up and deceive many.

12   And because lawlessness will abound, the love of many will grow cold.

13   But he who endures to the end shall be saved.

14   And this gospel of the kingdom will be preached in all the world as a witness to all the nations, and then the end will come.

15   "Therefore when you see the 'abomination of desolation,' spoken of by Daniel the prophet, standing in the holy place"

         (whoever reads, let him understand),

16   "then let those who are in Judea flee to the mountains.

17   Let him who is on the housetop not go down to take anything out of his house.

18   And let him who is in the field not go back to get his clothes.

19   But woe to those who are pregnant and to those who are nursing babies in those days!

20   And pray that your flight may not be in winter or on the Sabbath.

21   For then there will be great tribulation, such as has not been since the beginning of the world until this time, no, nor ever shall be.

22   And unless those days were shortened, no flesh would be saved; but for the elect's sake those days will be shortened.

23   "Then if anyone says to you, 'Look, here is the Christ!' or 'There!' do not believe it.

24   For false christs and false prophets will rise and show great signs and wonders to deceive, if possible, even the elect.

25   See, I have told you beforehand.

26   "Therefore if they say to you, 'Look, He is in the desert!' do not go out; or 'Look, He is in the inner rooms!' do not believe it.

27   For as the lightning comes from the east and flashes to the west, so also will the coming of the Son of Man be.

28   For wherever the carcass is, there the eagles will be gathered together.

29   "Immediately after the tribulation of those days the sun will be darkened, and the moon will not give its light;

the stars will fall from heaven, and the powers of the heavens will be shaken.

30   Then the sign of the Son of Man will appear in heaven, and then all the tribes of the earth will mourn,

and they will see the Son of Man coming on the clouds of heaven with power and great glory.

31   And He will send His angels with a great sound of a trumpet, and they will gather together His elect from the four winds,

from one end of heaven to the other.

32   "Now learn this parable from the fig tree: When its branch has already become tender and puts forth leaves,

you know that summer is near.

33   So you also, when you see all these things, know that it is near --- at the doors!    (NKJV)

We must note that verses 29 and 32 which comes immediately after the tribulation of the abomination of desolation perfectly matches the events of the 6th seal in Revelation 6; both describe the sun and moon growing dark, the stars falling from heaven and the powers of the heavens shaken with references of the fig tree:

Revelation 6:

12   I looked when He opened the sixth seal, and behold, there was a great earthquake;

and the sun became black as sackcloth of hair, and the moon became like blood.

13   And the stars of heaven fell to the earth, as a fig tree drops its late figs when it is shaken by a mighty wind.

14   Then the sky receded as a scroll when it is rolled up, and every mountain and island was moved out of its place.

15   And the kings of the earth, the great men, the rich men, the commanders, the mighty men, every slave and every free man,

hid themselves in the caves and in the rocks of the mountains,

16   and said to the mountains and rocks,

"Fall on us and hide us from the face of Him who sits on the throne and from the wrath of the Lamb!

17   For the great day of His wrath has come, and who is able to stand?"    (NKJV)

The 6th seal in Revelation 6 refers to the same events in Isaiah 2, 13 and 34, and these events come immediately before the Day of the LORD:

Isaiah 2:

12    For the day of the LORD of hosts Shall come upon everything proud and lofty,

Upon everything lifted up --- And it shall be brought low ---

13    Upon all the cedars of Lebanon that are high and lifted up, And upon all the oaks of Bashan;

14    Upon all the high mountains, And upon all the hills that are lifted up;

15    Upon every high tower, And upon every fortified wall;

16    Upon all the ships of Tarshish, And upon all the beautiful sloops.

17    The loftiness of man shall be bowed down, And the haughtiness of men shall be brought low;

The LORD alone will be exalted in that day,

18    But the idols He shall utterly abolish.

19    They shall go into the holes of the rocks, And into the caves of the earth,

From the terror of the LORD And the glory of His majesty, When He arises to shake the earth mightily.

20    In that day a man will cast away his idols of silver And his idols of gold, Which they made, each for himself to worship,

          To the moles and bats,

21   To go into the clefts of the rocks, And into the crags of the rugged rocks, From the terror of the LORD

And the glory of His majesty, When He arises to shake the earth mightily.

22   Sever yourselves from such a man, Whose breath is in his nostrils; For of what account is he?    (NKJV)

Isaiah 13:

6    Wail, for the day of the LORD is at hand! It will come as destruction from the Almighty.

7   Therefore all hands will be limp, Every man's heart will melt,

8    And they will be afraid. Pangs and sorrows will take hold of them; They will be in pain as a woman in childbirth; They will be amazed at one another; Their faces will be like flames.

9    Behold, the day of the LORD comes, Cruel, with both wrath and fierce anger, To lay the land desolate; And He will destroy its sinners from it.

10   For the stars of heaven and their constellations Will not give their light; The sun will be darkened in its going forth, And the moon will not cause its light to shine.

11   " I will punish the world for its evil, And the wicked for their iniquity; I will halt the arrogance of the proud, And will lay low the haughtiness of the terrible.

12   I will make a mortal more rare than fine gold, A man more than the golden wedge of Ophir.

13   Therefore I will shake the heavens, And the earth will move out of her place, In the wrath of the LORD of hosts And in the day of His fierce anger.    (NKJV)

Isaiah 34:

4    All the host of heaven shall be dissolved, And the heavens shall be rolled up like a scroll; All their host shall fall down As the leaf falls from the vine, And as fruit falling from a fig tree.

5    " For My sword shall be bathed in heaven; Indeed it shall come down on Edom, And on the people of My curse, for judgment.    (NKJV)

So we see that Matthew 24 and Revelation 6 shows Jesus coming for His bride sometime after the setting up of the abomination of desolation, the Great Tribulation and the signs in the heavens of the 6th seal.

We must understand that when the Bible talks about Messiah as the groom marrying and coming for His bride, it is according to the wedding customs of ancient Israel.  This involves the groom going away and preparing a place for her in the house of his father:

John 14:

2    "In My Father's house are many dwelling places; if it were not so, I would have told you; for I go to prepare a place for you.

3    "If I go and prepare a place for you, I will come again and receive you to Myself, that where I am, there you may be also.    (NASB)

And then he comes on a day no one knows (this is on the Feast of Trumpets) to take His bride for the wedding and 7 days in the wedding chamber:

Revelation 19:

6    And I heard, as it were, the voice of a great multitude, as the sound of many waters and as the sound of mighty thunderings, saying, "Alleluia! For the Lord God Omnipotent reigns!

7    Let us be glad and rejoice and give Him glory, for the marriage of the Lamb has come, and His wife has made herself ready."

8   And to her it was granted to be arrayed in fine linen, clean and bright, for the fine linen is the righteous acts of the saints.   (NKJV)

The Bible shows that the Messiah will only appear once --- very visibly, to take His bride.

No pre-tribulation rapture of "the Church"

Messiah will only appear once to take His bride away (the remaining body which is now made whole and includes the non-Jewish saints), which occurs towards the end of the 7 years of tribulation.

The pre-tribulation rapture doctrine has been around for less than 200 years and has deceived so many Christians today that it is now virtually considered to be a foundation of Christianity – people are taught this doctrine as Biblical truth as part of becoming a Christian.   This produces believers who believe a lie from the very beginning, and have conditioned them to be totally unprepared for the tribulation to come upon everyone.  Their faith is not founded on truth and solid rock, but their faith is founded on deception and sand.  This faith based on a lie will be completely destroyed when they find out they are not “taken away”.

It is very important for everyone to understand that we must not think that tribulation only comes just before Messiah returns or lasts for only a few years (like 3.5 or 7 years).  The truth is that worldwide tribulation will occur many years before the unveiling of the Antichrist and establishment of his Beast kingdom, and it will be consistent and persistent -- spanning many, many years, leading into the final years and right before Messiah's return to end all tribulation and establish the Kingdom of God.  These years of chaos and turmoil caused by war, famine, natural disasters, etc. will start very soon (likely in the next couple of years) and will create the environment that enables the Antichrist to rise to power with the last 7 years of tribulation before Messiah returns.

This means that those people who believe Messiah will return very soon MUST take into account and include in their estimates these many years of chaos which lead into, and set up, the arrival of the Beast and the last years of tribulation.  In other words, the end times are upon us and worldwide tribulation will begin much, much sooner than many people think – it is literally just around the corner and at the doors.  The birth pangs of the tribulation of end times begins in earnest with the fall and change of the United States of America that is already underway and will be complete in a few years.

There will be wars, famine, pestilence, etc. before Messiah establishes the Kingdom and there will be tribulation from the enemy and his Antichrist/Beast and False Prophet upon all mankind.

The pre-tribulation rapture doctrine persists in saying that the following passages of Scripture are not the same event:

Matthew 24:

29   "Immediately after the tribulation of those days the sun will be darkened, and the moon will not give its light; the stars will fall from heaven, and the powers of the heavens will be shaken.

30   Then the sign of the Son of Man will appear in heaven, and then all the tribes of the earth will mourn, and they will see the Son of Man coming on the clouds of heaven with power and great glory.

31   And He will send His angels with a great sound of a trumpet, and they will gather together His elect from the four winds, from one end of heaven to the other.   (NKJV)

1 Corinthians 15:

50   Now this I say, brethren, that flesh and blood cannot inherit the kingdom of God; nor does corruption inherit incorruption.

51   Behold, I tell you a mystery: We shall not all sleep, but we shall all be changed ---

52   in a moment, in the twinkling of an eye, at the last trumpet. For the trumpet will sound, and the dead will be raised incorruptible, and we shall be changed.

53   For this corruptible must put on incorruption, and this mortal must put on immortality.  (NKJV)

1 Thessalonians 4:

15   For this we say to you by the word of the Lord, that we who are alive and remain until the coming of the Lord will by no means precede those who are asleep.

16   For the Lord Himself will descend from heaven with a shout, with the voice of an archangel, and with the trumpet of God. And the dead in Christ will rise first.

17   Then we who are alive and remain shall be caught up together with them in the clouds to meet the Lord in the air. And thus we shall always be with the Lord.    (NKJV)

It says only the last two refer to the pre-tribulation rapture, but the first one (Matthew 24) does not.  The reason for this is because Matthew 24 very clearly says that only sometime “after the tribulation of those days” and the heavenly signs will Jesus come to command His angels to gather the elect with the sound of the trumpet.  The doctrine instead says that Matthew 24 must pertain to the Jews and the left behind only, and not “the Church”.  It conveniently ignores the fact that all 3 passages mention the gathering of the elect by the sound of a trumpet.

Are we really expected to believe that the Lord Jesus comes accompanied by the shouts of an archangel and the trumpet of God/the Last Trumpet to “secretly” take away the Church?  Or is the real truth this:  on the day of the Last Trumpet – the Feast of Trumpets/Yom Teruah, His arrival is announced by the shouts and long-sounding trumpet of God (the ram's horn/shofar) of the archangel as He commands His angels to gather His elect?  The truth is that Matthew 24, 1 Corinthians 15 and 1 Thessalonians 4 all refer to the same thing:  Messiah only comes once – and it will be heard and seen by all.

The Bible tells us, as the words of the Lord Jesus Himself does, that we must not be deceived by secret or multiple appearances of Him during the end times.  The Bible is telling us that we should not be adding or inserting end time appearances of Christ where they are not specified in the Bible.  The Bible shows us there is only one return of Christ, as seen in Matthew 24 and Revelation 19; they are the same event, the one visible and audible return after tribulation.

There is no pre-tribulation rapture of Christians who mysteriously disappear in the middle of what they are doing before all this tribulation starts.  The Lord Jesus only appears later --- once, towards the end of tribulation, and not at the beginning.

But what about the saints in current times and those who will suffer and die during the reign of the Antichrist/Beast and False Prophet?

These people are raised by the Lord Jesus at His coming in glory and like He said, this only happens at some point in time after the Great Tribulation and the signs of the heavens being shaken in Matthew 24.  There simply is no other time that believers are gathered/raised to Jesus at His one appearing/coming for His bride.

In Matthew 24:29-31 the Lord Jesus tells us that He will return sometime after the heavenly signs of the sun and moon going dark, and the stars falling from the heavens with the heavens being shaken.  These signs correspond to the heavenly signs of the 6th seal in Revelation 6:12-13 which is the timeframe for the sealing of the 144,000 saints.  These 144,000 saints are sealed in Revelation 7 which occurs shortly after the heavenly signs.  Jesus makes it clear in the Gospel of Matthew that after this time He will appear in great glory, which means He will return sometime after this sealing of 144,000 saints in Revelation 7 as well.  His one return happens sometime after the Great Tribulation.  The Bible shows that Christ will return after the completion of the 7th seal – at the end of the 7 trumpets and the 7 bowls/plagues.

The pre-tribulation rapture doctrine states that the great multitude of Revelation 7 are the saints who have been raptured before tribulation.  However, this is not supported in the Bible; it is taken out of context and out of sequence.  Revelation 7 occurs after the 6th seal of Revelation 6, because chapter 7 is the midpoint used to introduce the wrath of God during the Day of the LORD with the opening of the 7th seal.  The heavenly signs of the 6th seal are the same as that of Matthew 24, so Revelation 6 occurs after the 3.5 years of the Great Tribulation.

The Bible also tells us in another way that this great multitude is not a rapture before the Great Tribulation or in-between seals 6 and 7; because they are the saints who will be raised only at Christ’s return at the very end – after all tribulation and the Day of the LORD, to rule with Him for 1,000 years.  The description of the great multitude in Revelation 7 are the same people in Revelation 20:

Revelation 7:

9    After these things I looked, and behold, a great multitude which no one could number, of all nations, tribes, peoples, and tongues, standing before the throne and before the Lamb, clothed with white robes, with palm branches in their hands,

10   and crying out with a loud voice, saying, "Salvation belongs to our God who sits on the throne, and to the Lamb!"

11   All the angels stood around the throne and the elders and the four living creatures, and fell on their faces before the throne and worshiped God,

12   saying: " Amen! Blessing and glory and wisdom, Thanksgiving and honor and power and might, Be to our God forever and ever. Amen."

13   Then one of the elders answered, saying to me, "Who are these arrayed in white robes, and where did they come from?"

14   And I said to him, "Sir, you know." So he said to me, "These are the ones who come out of the great tribulation, and washed their robes and made them white in the blood of the Lamb.

15       Therefore they are before the throne of God, and serve Him day and night in His temple. And He who sits on the throne will dwell among them.

16   They shall neither hunger anymore nor thirst anymore; the sun shall not strike them, nor any heat;

17   for the Lamb who is in the midst of the throne will shepherd them and lead them to living fountains of waters. And God will wipe away every tear from their eyes."

Revelation 20:

4    And I saw thrones, and they sat on them, and judgment was committed to them. Then I saw the souls of those who had been beheaded for their witness to Jesus and for the word of God, who had not worshiped the beast or his image, and had not received his mark on their foreheads or on their hands. And they lived and reigned with Christ for a thousand years.    (NKJV)

The great multitude in Revelation 7:15 serves God day and night in the Temple when He dwells among His people during the 1,000 reign of Christ (Revelation 20) and this leads into them being with God and Christ forever into eternity (Revelation 21-22).  The truth that this multitude is only raised at the end of all tribulation and the Day of the LORD is further seen when Revelation 7:16-17 describes events in Revelation 21-22:

Revelation 21:

4    And God will wipe away every tear from their eyes; there shall be no more death, nor sorrow, nor crying. There shall be no more pain, for the former things have passed away."

5    Then He who sat on the throne said, "Behold, I make all things new." And He said to me, "Write, for these words are true and faithful."

6    And He said to me, "It is done! I am the Alpha and the Omega, the Beginning and the End. I will give of the fountain of the water of life freely to him who thirsts.

7    He who overcomes shall inherit all things, and I will be his God and he shall be My son.    (NKJV)

Revelation 22:

1    And he showed me a pure river of water of life, clear as crystal, proceeding from the throne of God and of the Lamb.

2    In the middle of its street, and on either side of the river, was the tree of life, which bore twelve fruits, each tree yielding its fruit every month. The leaves of the tree were for the healing of the nations.

3    And there shall be no more curse, but the throne of God and of the Lamb shall be in it, and His servants shall serve Him.    (NKJV)

It is an important point/juncture of end time events: because the 144,000 are sealed from God's wrath in the 7th seal (so they will not be hurt by what God will pour out on the Beast kingdom and will be empowered to do God's will), it is clear that Revelation 7 points ahead --- showing both preparation for what is yet to come in the last 3.5 years of tribulation and also what the ultimate outcome will be.

What does it mean that the Lord Jesus only mentions one appearance in great glory in that book?

The answer lies in the question His disciples asked Him.

They asked: “What will be the sign of your coming and of the end of the age?”

Messiah’s answer reveals that there is only one coming for His bride and it will be highly visible and audible, occurring after tribulation near the very end of the age.  The term “end of the age” indicates that the rule of man ends and the rule of God in Messiah begins – which shows again that the Lord Jesus’ return will be after tribulation (post-tribulation), because He has come to put an end to tribulation and the age of man, in order to establish the Kingdom of God.

The Bible truth of only one coming for His bride which is highly visible is seen also in Acts 1 when the Lord Jesus ascends from the Mount of Olives back to heaven being taken up in the clouds.  The angels said He will return the same way He left and Matthew 24 shows this when it states that He will return in visible glory upon the clouds.  Acts 1 and Matthew 24 are bookends separated by 2000 years.  In Acts 1 Jesus leaves earth and returns to heaven in clouds and in Matthew 24 Jesus leaves heaven and returns to earth in clouds:

Acts 1:

4    And being assembled together with them, He commanded them not to depart from Jerusalem,

       but to wait for the Promise of the Father, "which," He said, "you have heard from Me;

5    for John truly baptized with water, but you shall be baptized with the Holy Spirit not many days from now."

6    Therefore, when they had come together, they asked Him, saying, "Lord, will You at this time restore the kingdom to Israel?"

7    And He said to them, "It is not for you to know times or seasons which the Father has put in His own authority.

8    But you shall receive power when the Holy Spirit has come upon you; and you shall be witnesses to Me in Jerusalem,

and in all Judea and Samaria, and to the end of the earth."

9    Now when He had spoken these things, while they watched, He was taken up, and a cloud received Him out of their sight.

10  And while they looked steadfastly toward heaven as He went up, behold, two men stood by them in white apparel,

11  who also said, "Men of Galilee, why do you stand gazing up into heaven? This same Jesus, who was taken up from you into heaven, will so come in like manner as you saw Him go into heaven."     (NKJV)

So the next time the Lord Jesus comes will be highly visible to all as He comes upon the clouds to set foot again on the Mount of Olives.  There is no secret appearance of the Lord Jesus between these two events; every eye shall see His return upon the clouds:

Matthew 24:

29   "But immediately after the tribulation of those days the sun will be darkened, and the moon will not give its light, and the stars will fall from the sky, and the powers of the heavens will be shaken.

30   "And then the sign of the Son of Man will appear in the sky, and then all the tribes of the earth will mourn, and they will see the Son of Man coming on the clouds of the sky with power and great glory.

31   "And He will send forth His angels with a great trumpet and they will gather together His elect from the four winds, from one end of the sky to the other.  (NASB)

Revelation 1:

7    Behold, He is coming with the clouds, and every eye will see Him, even those who pierced Him; and all the tribes of the earth will mourn over Him. So it is to be. Amen.   (NASB)

But note what the disciples asked Messiah before He returned to heaven in Acts 1.  They asked,“Lord, will You at this time restore the kingdom to Israel?"  This shows from beginning to end that it is all about Israel!  There is absolutely no “replacement theology” or “changing it to the Church”.  This is further proof of the profound truth of what these things mean: salvation is of the Jews; to the Jew first (that is, all Israel – all the tribes) and then the Gentile/Greek; the natural olive branch and the grafted in; if the casting away of Israel is the reconciling of the world then its acceptance is life from the dead; and the marriage covenant God makes was and always is with Israel (no replacement theology ever at all), but all who fear and love God become one with Israel (like Ruth who was a Moabite but entered the bloodline of Messiah).

This truth speaks out against the Dispensationalist and Replacement Theology views. Gentile "Christian" believers have not replaced Israel in any way at all.  Instead, Gentiles are grafted in as a wild branch.  We must never forget that even when Israel was saved in the Exodus, there was a mixed multitude of peoples with her --- this does not change; it will happen again, because all peoples are grafted into Israel.

To reiterate so there is no misunderstanding: there is NO pre-tribulation rapture of "the Church".

There will be tribulation all throughout the end times until the return of Messiah to defeat the enemies of God and establish the 1,000-year kingdom.  The saints are not spared the wrath of Satan as his Beast and False Prophet will be warring with the saints to the very end and overcome them.  We see this as Messiah warns us even at the lateness of the hour:

Revelation 14:

12   Here is the perseverance of the saints who keep the commandments of God and their faith in Jesus.

13   And I heard a voice from heaven, saying, "Write, 'Blessed are the dead who die in the Lord from now on!'"

"Yes," says the Spirit, "so that they may rest from their labors, for their deeds follow with them."    (NASB)

Comment:  This is right before the 7 bowl judgments of the 7th trumpet are poured.  These are the saints who are the 144,000 of Revelation and others from the nations (the remaining harvest to complete the bride) who undergo the end time tribulation, who Messiah comes to bring up for the wedding on the Feast of Trumpets, which is soon but yet to come.

Revelation 16:

15   ("Behold, I am coming like a thief. Blessed is the one who stays awake and keeps his clothes, so that he will not walk about naked and men will not see his shame.")

16   And they gathered them together to the place which in Hebrew is called Har-Magedon.    (NASB)

Comment:  This is at the 6th bowl that gathers the enemy’s forces for the final battle. Again, notice that tribulation lasts until the very end.

Do not despair and be deceived by a pre-tribulation raptured doctrine, but seek and follow God’s truth ONLY!

Conditions must be prepared and made just right in order for the rise of the Antichrist/Beast and his False Prophet – this is why the revealing of the man of sin occurs after the Great Apostasy/falling away.  Remember, the Great Apostasy refers to people who once believed, but have decided to turn away.

There will be end time chaos such as natural disasters, war, the breakdown of society, famine, persecution, etc. that will contribute to the end time apostasy.  In addition to this, anti-Bible and anti-Christ sentiment will increase greatly as the activity of Satan and his demons increase in the end times.  If these things are not enough to break the spirit of a believer/Christian, than what will?  What else will occur during the time of the great falling away which will push countless people – believers, into the hands of the Beast and False Prophet?  What makes conditions just right for the Beast to reveal himself?

Indeed, based on what it teaches and the consequences of the deception, and the timing near the revealing of the man of sin with the set-up of the abomination of desolation, could the pre-tribulation rapture doctrine be the Great Apostasy or play the largest role in it, causing the Great Apostasy to reach its peak of maximum deception and destruction of people's faith?

It is absolutely critical – fundamental, in fact, that believers must know there is no pre-tribulation rapture, but Messiah only comes after tribulation to put an end to it once and for all.

The Bible also tells us that there is another resurrection, and it happens at a time after the Great Tribulation:

Daniel 12:

1    "Now at that time Michael, the great prince who stands guard over the sons of your people, will arise.

And there will be a time of distress such as never occurred since there was a nation until that time; and at that time your people,

everyone who is found written in the book, will be rescued.

2    "Many of those who sleep in the dust of the ground will awake, these to everlasting life,

but the others to disgrace and everlasting contempt.

3    "Those who have insight will shine brightly like the brightness of the expanse of heaven,

and those who lead the many to righteousness, like the stars forever and ever.

4    "But as for you, Daniel, conceal these words and seal up the book until the end of time;

many will go back and forth, and knowledge will increase."    (NASB)

Matthew 24:

29   "Immediately after the tribulation of those days the sun will be darkened, and the moon will not give its light;

the stars will fall from heaven, and the powers of the heavens will be shaken.

30   Then the sign of the Son of Man will appear in heaven, and then all the tribes of the earth will mourn,

and they will see the Son of Man coming on the clouds of heaven with power and great glory.   (NKJV)

Groom only comes once for His bride --- after tribulation

The Bible shows that God’s plan of salvation from beginning to end is entirely rooted in the harvest seasons of Israel.  At the same time, His plan of salvation is patterned after the wedding customs of Israel with the marriage of the Lamb and His bride, the body of Messiah.  The harvest and wedding customs show that the pre-tribulation rapture doctrine is false.

It is quite evident that He will very visibly appear to gather His elect as cited in Matthew 24 and other places which in time sequence occurs at His wedding after tribulation.  These are the ones who have undergone the tribulation of the end times (hence why Messiah returns --- to end the tribulation for the elect's sake before the entire world is destroyed).

The wedding customs of ancient Israel which the marriage of the Lamb is patterned after provides more evidence as to why there is only one appearance of Messiah with no secret appearances, and it will be at the end of tribulation.

The Two Witnesses are also part of the wedding customs.  The Two Witnesses are called up to heaven near the end of the tribulation just before the 7th trumpet (Revelation 11:1-15; likely in day 2520 (their 1260-day ministry starts right after the first 3.5 years/1260 days of tribulation); they are killed by the beast that came out of the bottomless pit at the 5th trumpet) to assist in the wedding.  This also tells us that it is the only appearance of Messiah coming for His bride – but only after tribulation.

The fact that the saints are still martyred at the lateness of the hour of the 7th trumpet and the 7 bowls/plagues (as we have read in Revelation 14:12-13 above – 12 Here is the perseverance of the saints who keep the commandments of God and their faith in Jesus13 And I heard a voice from heaven, saying, "Write, 'Blessed are the dead who die in the Lord from now on!'" "Yes," says the Spirit, "so that they may rest from their labors, for their deeds follow with them.") again shows us that the one and only coming of Messiah for His bride will be near the end.  He does not appear at all in the beginning of the tribulation; He only comes once and it is highly visible – and it occurs after tribulation near the end of the age.

We see further evidence where at the wedding just before the wedding supper, the bride puts on her wedding clothes.  These clothes represent the righteous acts of the saints.  This shows us that the wedding can only take place near the end, because all the saints (Jew and Gentile) who have undergone the tribulation of the Antichrist/Beast and False Prophet must be accounted for.  There will be persecution and tribulation of the saints by the Beast and False Prophet until the very end at His Second Coming.

It is because they are/compose “the fine linen (which) is the righteous acts of the saints” that clothes the bride, that we know this harvest of the 1st resurrection must happen near the very end when all tribulation will be over shortly (tribulation will be over for the gathered saints, Jew and Gentile, at His Second Coming, but tribulation for the rest of earth will only be over at the destruction of the Antichrist Beast kingdom during the wedding supper a few days later).

In other words, the bride cannot be clothed in the fine linen of the righteous acts of the saints until all tribulation has stopped against the bride saints (all saints who are the bride are accounted for, because they are the fine linen/righteous acts the bride needs for her wedding clothes) – the bride cannot be dressed for the wedding until the bride saints are no longer under tribulation.  And this only happens at His one and only appearance near the very end (before the wedding supper appearance) to stop the tribulation before it destroys all life on earth, as Jesus said, and to gather His bride for the wedding as we read earlier in Revelation 19:6-8.

There is no pre-tribulation rapture of "the Church" as the bride while the Jews are persecuted, because this would mean the bride will NOT have any wedding clothes until the Jews are no longer under tribulation. If this is the case, the pre-tribulation rapture doctrine is in fact proposing that the righteous acts of the saints refer to the Jews only (and those "left behind") since they are supposedly absolutely last.  Is this really true?  Or does it make more sense that the righteous acts of the saints consist of the bride saints --- both Jew and Gentile who are collectively the bride of Messiah?

The pre-tribulation rapture doctrine states "the Church" marries in heaven and then comes down, but how can this be true without the wedding clothes who would be the Jews?

And again, is “the Church” really separate and better than the Jews?  Or does the Bible say His bride is Israel, both Jew and Gentile together as one Israel?

Isaiah 54:

4   " Do not fear, for you will not be ashamed; Neither be disgraced, for you will not be put to shame;

For you will forget the shame of your youth, And will not remember the reproach of your widowhood anymore.

5   For your Maker is your husband, The LORD of hosts is His name; And your Redeemer is the Holy One of Israel;

He is called the God of the whole earth.

6   For the LORD has called you Like a woman forsaken and grieved in spirit,

Like a youthful wife when you were refused," Says your God.

7   " For a mere moment I have forsaken you, But with great mercies I will gather you.

8   With a little wrath I hid My face from you for a moment; But with everlasting kindness I will have mercy on you,"

       Says the LORD, your Redeemer.

9   " For this is like the waters of Noah to Me; For as I have sworn That the waters of Noah would no longer cover the earth,

So have I sworn That I would not be angry with you, nor rebuke you.

10  For the mountains shall depart And the hills be removed, But My kindness shall not depart from you,

Nor shall My covenant of peace be removed," Says the LORD, who has mercy on you.

11  " O you afflicted one, Tossed with tempest, and not comforted,

Behold, I will lay your stones with colorful gems, And lay your foundations with sapphires.

12  I will make your pinnacles of rubies, Your gates of crystal, And all your walls of precious stones.

13  All your children shall be taught by the LORD, And great shall be the peace of your children.

14  In righteousness you shall be established; You shall be far from oppression, for you shall not fear;

And from terror, for it shall not come near you.

15  Indeed they shall surely assemble, but not because of Me. Whoever assembles against you shall fall for your sake.

16  " Behold, I have created the blacksmith Who blows the coals in the fire, Who brings forth an instrument for his work; And I have created the spoiler to destroy.

17  No weapon formed against you shall prosper, And every tongue which rises against you in judgment You shall condemn. This is the heritage of the servants of the LORD, And their righteousness is from Me," Says the LORD.   (NKJV)

Hosea 2:

16    " And it shall be, in that day," Says the LORD, " That you will call Me 'My Husband,' And no longer call Me 'My Master,'

17    For I will take from her mouth the names of the Baals, And they shall be remembered by their name no more.

18    In that day I will make a covenant for them With the beasts of the field, With the birds of the air, And with the creeping things of the ground. Bow and sword of battle I will shatter from the earth, To make them lie down safely.

19    " I will betroth you to Me forever; Yes, I will betroth you to Me In righteousness and justice, In lovingkindness and mercy;

20    I will betroth you to Me in faithfulness, And you shall know the LORD.

21    " It shall come to pass in that day That I will answer," says the LORD;

" I will answer the heavens, And they shall answer the earth.

22   The earth shall answer With grain, With new wine, And with oil; They shall answer Jezreel.

23   Then I will sow her for Myself in the earth, And I will have mercy on her who had not obtained mercy; Then I will say to those who were not My people, ' You are My people!' And they shall say, 'You are my God!' "    (NKJV)

The pre-tribulation rapture doctrine and replacement theology make absolutely no sense when they un-biblically try to remove the Jews from their God-ordained place as Messiah's bride, together with non-Jews who are grafted in with them.  These doctrines are weapons against the Jews, Israel and God's truth, but these weapons will not prosper, because God's truth will be known and seen by all very soon enough.

There is yet another example that not only reveals the pre-tribulation rapture doctrine as false, but illustrates how irrational the doctrine really is.

The pre-tribulation rapture doctrine tries to emulate the wedding practices of ancient Israel.  The doctrine states that the bride – the Church, is taken away by the groom – the Messiah, in secret to be alone with Him for 7 days (7 prophetic years) for the marriage and honeymoon in heaven while the rest of the world (Jews, left behind, etc.) endures through tribulation.   Then the groom and bride return for the wedding supper (this is where Christ appears gloriously to all) with all their wedding guests.

It is true that the wedding customs have the groom taking the bride away on a day she does not know, but his appearance (and it is an actual appearance) is not secret, because as we read much earlier, the friends of the groom announce His appearance with great noise – ‘teruah’, lots of joyous sounds made the voice and trumpet/shofar.

It is the day He comes that is not known (remember, the Feast of Trumpets is the only feast day that occurs on a new moon), but once He is here, everyone will know, because it will be very loudly and visibly be announced.  The “secret” is the day of His coming and it is not His appearance.  His arrival and appearance will be in great glory and everyone will know it. This is why the Lord Jesus returns on the Feast of Trumpets/Yom Teruah to begin with – it is with much fanfare not only to announce the groom is here to take His bride, but also to herald the arrival of royalty, because He is the King of Kings.  It is a feast of festivity with great sounds of festivity: loud shouts and blaring blasts of the trumpet to declare His arrival.

Though this also shows how the pre-tribulation rapture doctrine is false, this is not the glaring example of why the pre-tribulation rapture doctrine is illogical.

As we said, the pre-tribulation rapture doctrine tries to follow the wedding customs, but it falls far, far short in one regard – and it is the most obvious subject.  It is so obvious (and therefore why the doctrine is so illogical) that it cuts to the very heart of the doctrine and its roots which are Dispensational in nature (the Church replaces Israel and therefore the bride is the Church while Jews and the left behind suffer tribulation).  It is so glaring an error that it is a wonder why so many people believe the doctrine.

However, it is a great opportunity for the truly earnest seeker of God’s truth who will abide by it no matter what the cost. Only they will see this error and throw out the pre-tribulation rapture doctrine with the trash.

Let us recall: the doctrine believes the groom takes the bride away for 7 days (years) while the marriage occurs in heaven and then the couple appears for the wedding supper.  While they are in heaven, the Jews and others undergo tribulation.

It is true that in the ancient wedding customs of Israel, the groom takes the bride away for 7 days (it is 7 literal days, not years, but let us put this aside for now) and after the 7 days they join their wedding guests for the wedding supper.

The pre-tribulation rapture doctrine further believes that the wedding guests are the Jews and the left behind who are saved during the tribulation (it says these guests may also include the Old Testament saints as well).

This is the point where the pre-tribulation rapture doctrine conveniently does NOT follow the ancient wedding customs of Israel, but it instead ignores it, and steers well far and clear away from it.  Pre-tribulation rapture supporters who believe that the Lord Jesus and the Bride of Christ follow the ancient Hebrew wedding customs somehow gloss over it, think nothing of it or ignore it --- but it should not and must not be ignored.

In the wedding customs which Messiah, the bride and the wedding guests follow according to the will of our Heavenly Father – which must not be ignored, the following happens:

1.  The groom takes his bride away for 7 days and consummates the marriage.

2.  While the groom and bride are away, the wedding guests celebrate and feast for the same 7 days while they wait for the groom and bride to reappear and join them at the end of the 7 days for the marriage supper.

Did you catch that?

The wedding customs indicate that the wedding guests celebrate and feast for the same 7 days that the groom and bride are gone.

Where is this reflected in the pre-tribulation rapture doctrine?

It will try to say the heavenly hosts are the guests, but this is not what the doctrine really believes.  The doctrine bases everything on the belief that the Church goes away as the bride while the Jews and everyone else who might be saved suffer tribulation and are left over for the wedding supper.

The doctrine states that the Jews and the left behind are the wedding supper guests, so they should be the ones who are celebrating and feasting when the groom and bride are away for the 7 days. Instead, the doctrine contradicts itself and says the Jews will be undergoing tribulation for the 7 days.  How can suffering through the worst years in mankind’s history on earth be called feasting and celebrating the marriage of the groom and bride in heaven?

The wedding customs are very clear: the guests celebrate and feast for the same 7 days the groom and bride are away (this means that Messiah, the groom has returned at His Second Coming just days before when the entire world, including Jews, will finally see and know who He is).  Then the couple joins them at the end of the 7 days for the wedding supper.  But the pre-tribulation rapture doctrine ignores this fact, this truth.

The doctrine tries to make us believe that even though the Jews are wedding guests, yet they still must suffer through the tribulation.  The doctrine either thinks the wedding guests should not be celebrating and feasting (contradicting God) or the doctrine thinks that suffering through 7 years of the worst tribulation ever is considered celebrating and feasting.  Either way, it is wrong; the doctrine is false.  In addition to all this, it also ignores the fact that since the Jews are supposedly wedding guests and therefore should be rejoicing for the 7 days the groom and bride are gone, this would mean that the Jews and others should already be believers in Messiah during these same 7 years of tribulation/the wedding (but this is obviously not the case).

This is mass confusion and God is not a god of confusion.  It just does not make any sense.  It is more than illogical; it is actually perverse.  This doctrine is based on the dispensational and replacement theologies which always claim they are not anti-Israel, but in reality they are, even if they do not know it. Nothing makes any sense, because the pre-tribulation rapture doctrine does not make sense; it is not only wrong but deadly.

The pre-tribulation rapture doctrine tries to appear like a sheep – righteous and following God’s example, but it is in reality a wolf and does not follow God’s example at all, but leads the entire flock to their doom.

The Bible declares that the wedding guests will be overjoyed and celebrating for the 7 days the groom and bride are gone.  This means that the Lord Jesus does not secretly take “the Church” away to heaven before the tribulation while the Jews and others suffer through it.  Suffering through 7 years of tribulation is not feasting and celebrating a wedding.  It means that everyone will suffer the tribulation – believers/saints included, because the groom only comes back for the wedding after the tribulation.  This is the only time – near the very end of tribulation when He arrives, when everything makes sense, because the groom, bride and wedding guests (who will be believers in Messiah by this time, whether Jew or Gentile) will be all together at the same timeframe for groom's arrival and the wedding: the celebration of the guests during the 7 days and the wedding supper that follows.

And the groom’s arrival will be seen and heard by all on Yom Teruah – the day of joyous shouts and blasts of the trumpet/shofar.

It also means that the 7 days of the groom and bride are a literal 7 days, not 7 years.  Seven years do not separate the wedding and the wedding supper.  Revelation 19 makes it clear that His arrival and the marriage supper occur extremely close together and not separated by 7 years.  He returns for His bride who goes up to meet Him in the air and she has made herself ready for the marriage (Revelation 19:6-8); and then they go off to the wedding and return shortly for the wedding supper on the Day of Atonement, when the 7-year tribulation is put to an end as the groom destroys the Antichrist Beast kingdom:

Revelation 19:

9     Then he said to me, "Write: 'Blessed are those who are called to the marriage supper of the Lamb!' " And he said to me, "These are the true sayings of God."

10   And I fell at his feet to worship him. But he said to me, "See that you do not do that! I am your fellow servant, and of your brethren who have the testimony of Jesus. Worship God! For the testimony of Jesus is the spirit of prophecy."

11   Now I saw heaven opened, and behold, a white horse. And He who sat on him was called Faithful and True, and in righteousness He judges and makes war.

12   His eyes were like a flame of fire, and on His head were many crowns. He had a name written that no one knew except Himself.

13   He was clothed with a robe dipped in blood, and His name is called The Word of God.

14   And the armies in heaven, clothed in fine linen, white and clean, followed Him on white horses.

15   Now out of His mouth goes a sharp sword, that with it He should strike the nations. And He Himself will rule them with a rod of iron. He Himself treads the winepress of the fierceness and wrath of Almighty God.

16   And He has on His robe and on His thigh a name written: KING OF KINGS AND LORD OF LORDS.

17   Then I saw an angel standing in the sun; and he cried with a loud voice, saying to all the birds that fly in the midst of heaven, "Come and gather together for the supper of the great God,

18   that you may eat the flesh of kings, the flesh of captains, the flesh of mighty men, the flesh of horses and of those who sit on them, and the flesh of all people, free and slave, both small and great."

19   And I saw the beast, the kings of the earth, and their armies, gathered together to make war against Him who sat on the horse and against His army.

20   Then the beast was captured, and with him the false prophet who worked signs in his presence, by which he deceived those who received the mark of the beast and those who worshiped his image. These two were cast alive into the lake of fire burning with brimstone.

21   And the rest were killed with the sword which proceeded from the mouth of Him who sat on the horse. And all the birds were filled with their flesh.   (NKJV)

In essence, the Bible declares that the pre-tribulation rapture doctrine is false and nonsensical, and we must, must stay away from it.  It tickles the ears, but what seems right to us (or what we desperately want to be right) often leads to death (2 Timothy 4:3-4; Proverbs 14:12/16:25).  Things are getting darker and darker by the day, and we all see it. Turn to the truth before it is too late.  Tribulation is soon upon us.

****  Very important note for all Christians and pre-tribulation rapture believers (and everyone in general):

Please notice that there is absolutely no instance of believers being spared any kind of tribulation.  In truth, you will see that Gentile believers are only accounted as part of the larger harvest with the latter rain, but any gathering of Gentile believers to Himself only happens at the completion of all end time tribulation and wrath when He returns on the Feast of Trumpets/Yom Teruah.  Every believer will undergo tribulation.

Also, the Lord Jesus clearly warns everyone specifically that He will come only once for His bride and this coming will be highly visible and is not secret at all.  He tells us to not be deceived by those saying He has come in secret – in a secluded area or some other way.  In other words, in addition to the list of things above which must occur before taking His bride, Jesus Himself is telling us to not believe in a pre-tribulation rapture doctrine:

#1 – He does not come in secret at all; and

#2 – all believers will not escape tribulation, but go through it.

He calls anyone who teaches a pre-tribulation doctrine a false prophet (or a false messiah) and He tells us it will be a great deception at the end time and to not believe it:

Matthew 24:

23   "Then if anyone says to you, 'Behold, here is the Christ,' or 'There He is,' do not believe him.

24   "For false Christs and false prophets will arise and will show great signs and wonders, so as to mislead, if possible, even the elect.

25   "Behold, I have told you in advance.

26   "So if they say to you, 'Behold, He is in the wilderness,' do not go out, or, 'Behold, He is in the inner rooms,' do not believe them.

27   "For just as the lightning comes from the east and flashes even to the west, so will the coming of the Son of Man be.

28   "Wherever the corpse is, there the vultures will gather.    (NASB)

The Messiah is essentially telling us that those who believe in a pre-tribulation rapture doctrine will be the people who will be deceived by the false christs and false prophets.  This is because a pre-tribulation rapture is not Biblical and this doctrine has caused its believers to not be alert, or care about or know what the signs are to look for.  They will be completely unprepared, in the dark and not know what to do – and therefore will be easy victims for these deceivers who teach Messiah will appear secretly for His bride.

The Lord Jesus is very clear and adamant on this subject:  He will not return in secret, but His return will be seen by all and heard by all, and anyone who says that He will return in secret is deceived and deceiving others.  He warns us to not run out to see Him or think He has appeared when He has not.  Do not be fooled!

He tells us that He will come once – and it will be seen and heard by all, and it will be upon the clouds of heaven.  In other words, when we next see Him, it will be in the sky and there will be loud sounds of shouts and trumpets; His return will be like lightning everyone sees, and like the thunder everyone hears that follows:

Matthew 24:

27   "For just as the lightning comes from the east and flashes even to the west, so will the coming of the Son of Man be.

(NASB)

1 Thessalonians 4:

13   But we do not want you to be uninformed, brethren, about those who are asleep, so that you will not grieve as do the rest who have no hope.

14   For if we believe that Jesus died and rose again, even so God will bring with Him those who have fallen asleep in Jesus.

15   For this we say to you by the word of the Lord, that we who are alive and remain until the coming of the Lord, will not precede those who have fallen asleep.

16   For the Lord Himself will descend from heaven with a shout, with the voice of the archangel and with the trumpet of God, and the dead in Christ will rise first.

17  Then we who are alive and remain will be caught up together with them in the clouds to meet the Lord in the air, and so we shall always be with the Lord.   (NASB)

The Bible tells us we must know ALL the signs of His coming so we will not be deceived by false prophets and false Christs.  Indeed, the enemy, who is the god of this world, is probably working hard to deceive the entire world by creating a false return of Christ.  This may very well be the case, because Messiah is telling us to be especially careful to not be deceived by these false prophets/Christs, because this deception will be so great it may even possibly mislead the elect.

So we must make sure we are this elect.

We must know what to look out for and be prepared

Therefore, in addition to the signs listed above, we must know that the Antichrist, the man of lawlessness will be against God’s laws.  He will think to change times and laws (Daniel 7:25) which means he will be against and try to change God’s times and laws, such as attacking God’s commandments like the 7th day Sabbath.  This is not just making people break the 7th day Sabbath by "changing" it to another day, but also by doing things on the 7th day Sabbath that God tells us not to do such as working, including buying & selling.

The elect are the ones who keep the commandments of God and have faith in Messiah:

Revelation 12

17 And the dragon was enraged with the woman, and he went to make war with the rest of her offspring, who keep the commandments of God and have the testimony of Jesus Christ.   (NKJV)

Revelation 14

12 Here is the patience of the saints; here are those who keep the commandments of God and the faith of Jesus.    (NKJV)

So in addition to being awake/alert and knowing all the signs of His return, including knowing who the wheat harvest firstfruits really are and their role in the ancient wedding customs of Israel which Messiah follows; the elect will NOT be deceived by the man of lawlessness/sin attacking God’s 7th day Sabbath or any other commandments of God.  Please also see the article: 'The Mark of the Beast'.

Messiah's coming will be highly visible and will not be in secret / secret places.  He will very visibly come in glory --- this is what we will see, but it will only occur at "the Last Trumpet", after the things above happen first, when the whole bride is together as one.  Then He will come again for the wedding supper soon after.  So there will be only two appearances of Messiah and they both will be highly visible.

And also crucially important: we must note from all the emphasis the Bible places on the 1st resurrection (those who reign with Messiah), with the suffering and death (martyrdom) of God’s people (especially by the hands of the soon-coming Beast), that the Bible is making it very clear to us that not only is a pre-tribulation rapture false, but the elect are the children of God who will die for their faith.

We must consider that the term to be "gathered" is a harvest term and primarily used of something planted and dying first before bearing fruit.  We are told to imitate Messiah and it is Messiah Himself who explains the concept that something planted is sown and dies first before being reaped as a bountiful harvest.  He says we must not love our life so much in this world to be afraid to lose it, but instead we must be willing to lose our life in this world to gain eternal life:

John 12:

23   But Jesus answered them, saying, "The hour has come that the Son of Man should be glorified.

24   Most assuredly, I say to you, unless a grain of wheat falls into the ground and dies, it remains alone;

but if it dies, it produces much grain.

25   He who loves his life will lose it, and he who hates his life in this world will keep it for eternal life.

26   If anyone serves Me, let him follow Me; and where I am, there My servant will be also.

If anyone serves Me, him My Father will honor.    (NKJV)

Messiah is telling us that we should be ready, willing and able to die for our faith.  It is actually expected of the elect.  Remember that the saints of God are martyred all throughout the tribulation as we see in the 5th seal, where the martyrs were told to wait for their brethren and others to also die as they did.   The evidence that the elect of God will lay down their lives for the faith can also clearly be seen in the "chapter of faith", Hebrews 11:

Hebrews 11:

35   Women received their dead raised to life again. Others were tortured, not accepting deliverance, that they might obtain a better resurrection.

36   Still others had trial of mockings and scourgings, yes, and of chains and imprisonment.

37   They were stoned, they were sawn in two, were tempted, were slain with the sword. They wandered about in sheepskins and goatskins, being destitute, afflicted, tormented ---

38   of whom the world was not worthy. They wandered in deserts and mountains, in dens and caves of the earth.    (NKJV)

We must note that the people in Hebrews 11 are the elect and we are to emulate Messiah and also Abraham, the father of faith.  We are being told that they sacrificed everything, including suffering and death to obtain a better resurrection.  In other words, we are to emulate those in Hebrews 11 and be prepared to do the same.

What is this better resurrection?  It is the 1st resurrection of Revelation 20:4-6 which includes those who have suffered and died in the end times tribulation.  It is the better resurrection, because those in this 1st resurrection will not be in the 2nd resurrection which comes after the 1000 years.  The 2nd resurrection is the Great White Throne Judgment in Revelation 20:11-15 which has the possibility of the 2nd death.  Those in the 1st resurrection are assured eternal life with absolutely no possibility of 2nd death.

The elect do not love their lives in this world, but are willing to die for the faith, our God and His Messiah.  Remember what we just read in Hebrews 11:38 --- the world is not worthy of us.  Why?  It is because we know we are just pilgrims on this earth, and we know that even if we die, our destiny is eternity in the New Jerusalem that will come down:

Hebrews 11:

13   These all died in faith, not having received the promises, but having seen them afar off were assured of them, embraced them and confessed that they were strangers and pilgrims on the earth.

14   For those who say such things declare plainly that they seek a homeland.

15   And truly if they had called to mind that country from which they had come out, they would have had opportunity to return.

16   But now they desire a better, that is, a heavenly country. Therefore God is not ashamed to be called their God, for He has prepared a city for them.   (NKJV)

Revelation 21:

1    Now I saw a new heaven and a new earth, for the first heaven and the first earth had passed away. Also there was no more sea.

2    Then I, John, saw the holy city, New Jerusalem, coming down out of heaven from God, prepared as a bride adorned for her husband.

3   And I heard a loud voice from heaven saying, "Behold, the tabernacle of God is with men, and He will dwell with them, and they shall be His people. God Himself will be with them and be their God.

4   And God will wipe away every tear from their eyes; there shall be no more death, nor sorrow, nor crying. There shall be no more pain, for the former things have passed away."

5    Then He who sat on the throne said, "Behold, I make all things new." And He said to me, "Write, for these words are true and faithful."    (NKJV)

So we must remember and keep to heart that when the Bible says the Beast wars with the saints and overcomes them (physically), we are not the losers. It means those in Messiah will die for their faith and in truth, we are the ones who are victorious and overcome the enemy (spiritually and eternally); the elect are the ones in the 1st resurrection who do "not love their life even when faced with death":

Revelation 12:

10   Then I heard a loud voice in heaven, saying, "Now the salvation, and the power, and the kingdom of our God and the authority of His Christ have come, for the accuser of our brethren has been thrown down, he who accuses them before our God day and night.

11    "And they overcame him because of the blood of the Lamb and because of the word of their testimony, and they did not love their life even when faced with death.    (NASB)

Just like how we often say we are willing to die for a loved one, we must be ready to "walk the walk and not just talk the talk" when the time comes and be prepared to die (not kill) for our Messiah, if we say we love Him.

With all that will occur near the time of His return (which is soon), do we therefore see why the Lord Jesus and the Bible consistently tells us to be watchful and not be deceived, and it will be wise to listen and do so.  Not just watchful so much for when the new moon begins, but also for the overall signs of the times, redeeming the time as the days are evil (Ephesians 5:15-17).  We must be prepared and strengthen our faith in God and Christ.  Remember when the Lord Jesus said when He returns: “Will He really find faith on the earth?” (Luke 18:8).

The Bible tells us there will be great devastation and persecution in the end times, and we are in the end times.  The next few years will see these end time events occur at a rapid pace centered around Israel and its subjugation with the taking of the land; the change and removal of the United States of America to ensure the Antichrist/Beast has a clear path to one world government; nations rising against nations, signs in the heavens, etc.

But we are to be the elect who must be willing to suffer and die for Messiah if necessary, and have the solid faith built on rock and not sand.

This is exactly why we must really know our God and His Messiah and be strong; it starts now with every second of every day until the day He returns, whenever that might be, so we will not be caught unawares by a thief or found to be lacking with the faith and gifts He has given us.  We must occupy and maximize our time here until He comes and not be an unfaithful useless servant, but one where He can say to us: “Well done, good and faithful servant”; we must be the servant who was given 5 talents and doubled what He was given (Matthew 25:14-30).

The point God is trying to make is that we must always be focused on God in Christ in our love, faith, hope, patience, holiness, and the fruits of righteousness at all times; regardless of when His son Jesus might be return, but especially as the day approaches:

Philippians 1:

9    And this I pray, that your love may abound still more and more in knowledge and all discernment,

10  that you may approve the things that are excellent, that you may be sincere and without offense till the day of Christ,

11  being filled with the fruits of righteousness which are by Jesus Christ, to the glory and praise of God.   (NKJV)

1 Thessalonians 5:

1   But concerning the times and the seasons, brethren, you have no need that I should write to you.

2    For you yourselves know perfectly that the day of the Lord so comes as a thief in the night.

3    For when they say, "Peace and safety!" then sudden destruction comes upon them, as labor pains upon a pregnant woman.

       And they shall not escape.

4    But you, brethren, are not in darkness, so that this Day should overtake you as a thief.

5    You are all sons of light and sons of the day. We are not of the night nor of darkness.

6    Therefore let us not sleep, as others do, but let us watch and be sober.

7    For those who sleep, sleep at night, and those who get drunk are drunk at night.

8    But let us who are of the day be sober, putting on the breastplate of faith and love, and as a helmet the hope of salvation.

9    For God did not appoint us to wrath, but to obtain salvation through our Lord Jesus Christ,

10   who died for us, that whether we wake or sleep, we should live together with Him.

11   Therefore comfort each other and edify one another, just as you also are doing.   (NKJV)

2 Peter 3:

10   But the day of the Lord will come as a thief in the night, in which the heavens will pass away with a great noise, and the elements will melt with fervent heat; both the earth and the works that are in it will be burned up.

11   Therefore, since all these things will be dissolved, what manner of persons ought you to be in holy conduct and godliness,

12   looking for and hastening the coming of the day of God, because of which the heavens will be dissolved, being on fire, and the elements will melt with fervent heat?

13   Nevertheless we, according to His promise, look for new heavens and a new earth in which righteousness dwells.    (NKJV)

We must seek the things not of this earth but above; not really looking for the new moon, but to be perfected day by day with Christ in God.  And when we do look at the moon and end time prophecy, we must remember it is only a guideline and do not predict dates; it is a guideline for us to prepare and be hopeful of that blessed day when we are truly perfected at His return. We must be ever faithful and ever watchful; always going about our father’s business, always prepared:

Colossians 3:

1   If then you were raised with Christ, seek those things which are above, where Christ is, sitting at the right hand of God.

2    Set your mind on things above, not on things on the earth.

3    For you died, and your life is hidden with Christ in God.

4   When Christ who is our life appears, then you also will appear with Him in glory.   (NKJV)

1 John 3:

1   Behold what manner of love the Father has bestowed on us, that we should be called children of God! Therefore the world does not know us, because it did not know Him.

2    Beloved, now we are children of God; and it has not yet been revealed what we shall be, but we know that when He is revealed, we shall be like Him, for we shall see Him as He is.

3    And everyone who has this hope in Him purifies himself, just as He is pure.    (NKJV)

Let us finally also be reminded of the meaning of the word 'teruah' so we can clearly see how the return of Messiah will be announced by both blasts of the trumpet and loud shouts of exuberant joy, fulfilling the meaning of 'teruah' in all aspects.  For when He appears both the living and the dead in God will respond to His shout and His trumpet, and will be shouting for joy......HalleluYah!!!

So let us be alert and not be found sleeping, but be going about our father’s work and worshipping in spirit and truth:

John 4:

23   But the hour is coming, and now is, when the true worshipers will worship the Father in spirit and truth; for the Father is seeking such to worship Him.

24   God is Spirit, and those who worship Him must worship in spirit and truth."    (NKJV)

Mark 13:

33   "Take heed, keep on the alert; for you do not know when the appointed time will come.

34   "It is like a man away on a journey, who upon leaving his house and putting his slaves in charge, assigning to each one his task, also commanded the doorkeeper to stay on the alert.

35   "Therefore, be on the alert--for you do not know when the master of the house is coming, whether in the evening, at midnight, or when the rooster crows, or in the morning--

36   in case he should come suddenly and find you asleep.

37  "What I say to you I say to all, 'Be on the alert!'"    (NASB)

Again, regarding the timing and meaning of the Feast of Trumpets/Yom Teruah, one thing is certain. Even with the start of the Feast of Trumpets in question, because of the difficulty of discerning when the new moon begins since it is the only feast day that is on the 1st day of the month (the 1st day of the 7th month); based on the fact that the feasts of God represent milestones in God's plan of salvation with the Lord Jesus as the chief cornerstone and the groom according to the wedding customs of ancient Israel,  we can still state with reasonable confidence that the return of the Lord Jesus to take His bride away will occur on the Feast of Trumpets.

The Lord Jesus will return on a day where no one knows the day or the hour --- on "the Last Trumpet" which is the Feast of Trumpets/Yom Teruah and it will be after the 7 bowls/plagues.  We will not know when this 1st day of the 7th month will be, because we will not be able to know when the new moon is.  Both the sun and the moon will not behave normally during the time of the groom's return.  It will be a day like no other; we know the groom returns the same way He left in Acts 1:9-12 and once again His feet will stand atop the Mount of Olives:

Zechariah 14:

4    In that day His feet will stand on the Mount of Olives, which is in front of Jerusalem on the east; and the Mount of Olives will be split in its middle from east to west by a very large valley, so that half of the mountain will move toward the north and the other half toward the south.

5    You will flee by the valley of My mountains, for the valley of the mountains will reach to Azel; yes, you will flee just as you fled before the earthquake in the days of Uzziah king of Judah. Then the LORD, my God, will come, and all the holy ones with Him!

6    In that day there will be no light; the luminaries will dwindle.

7    For it will be a unique day which is known to the LORD, neither day nor night,

but it will come about that at evening time there will be light.    (NASB)

The Feast of Trumpets is closely related to the Wavesheaf Offering day and Pentecost which immediately come before it and should be read together with them in sequence.

NOTE:  God’s feast days about His salvation plan in Messiah are given to all His people, both Jew and non-Jew, to observe.  The different views about the Biblical calendar such as when a new moon/year begins and when the Wavesheaf Offering is (and therefore when the count to 50 days begins to Pentecost/Shavuot) should absolutely not to be used as an excuse to prevent you from observing God’s feast days in the Bible.  Jesus is our Passover and more – He is the groom who comes for His bride and presides over His wedding supper, and we are commanded in the Bible to observe the feasts (1 Corinthians 5:6-8). The apostles, disciples and Messiah Himself kept them and Messiah Himself lives them.  You should keep them as God’s spirit leads you and He will reward your heart and effort to walk in obedience and true worship.  Also, the difference in views should not be used as a wedge/divisive issue to distance or disassociate ourselves from our brothers and sisters who observe differently.  They are not just friends – they are part of our one family in Messiah who we love and also diligently seek God’s truth.  As the days grow darker toward the glorious light of His return, the brethren must be united now more than ever.

A Final Thought

It is very important for us to know that God’s entire plan of salvation is not only based on the ancient Hebrew wedding customs, but also on the harvest seasons of Israel.  Only when we always remain vigilant going by the Word of God and understand that the wedding and harvest are combined, and how they intertwine seamlessly according to Scripture will we get a proper view of the sequence of end time events and what they mean.

The harvest and wedding together provide a framework by which we will not be deceived and have our faith destroyed in the end times. It will prevent us from becoming victims in the Great Apostasy/falling away that the false pre-tribulation rapture doctrine will help cause.  It will prevent us from following false messiahs who take advantage of those who look for Messiah at a certain time and place when and where He will not be.

Knowing is not half the battle – it is the battle.  When we know we must prepare and strengthen ourselves for Satan’s attack in the end time tribulation, then we will not fall away and renounce our faith or even worship false gods under the pressure of total chaos and persecution.  We will also not be deceived by Satan and his demons working their hardest to destroy us by making many believe they do not exist.  An unknown enemy is the deadliest enemy, and this is why the lies of the paranormal/spirit world and the existence of aliens (both really are demons) will also play large roles in the end time deception.

However, we need not be deceived by any of this.  The Bible tells us we must be alert and not be asleep. We must go by God’s word only and not the traditions of men.  God’s word, the Bible says that Israel is NOT replaced by the Church.  God’s word, the Bible says that everyone will undergo tribulation and those who endure to the very end, even at the expense of death, will rise again and rule with Him in the 1,000-year Kingdom of God.

God shows us that His salvation plan is based on both the wedding and the harvest together, and at the center of it all is God’s holy son, the Lord Jesus, the Messiah.  In the Spring feast days, as the one true Passover Lamb of God, Messiah made the marriage covenant with His people, living through the ancient wedding process, paying the ultimate bride price.   Even now, Jesus is still living the ancient wedding process: preparing a place for His bride and waiting for the time that His father declares all is ready and it is time for Messiah to go take His bride. And in the Fall feast days to come very soon, Jesus will come for His bride – after tribulation, amidst much fanfare.

But there is one more thing that the earnest seeker of God’s truth must not be deceived by in these end times which are already upon us.  The truth is crystal clear.  If you are truly seeking God’s truth with all your might, and are willing to follow Him no matter what the cost, then you must know this and receive it, accept it.

Since you are reading this, you know that God’s salvation is based on the wedding and the harvests of Israel.  You know that God’s salvation is based on His feast days.  Let us speak plainly and not see through a mirror dimly, but see face to face:  these feast days are NOT Jewish feast days – they are God’s feast days.  God gave His feast days – which have His son Jesus Christ as the chief cornerstone, to all mankind for everyone to observe.  He gave it first to Israel who was supposed to be a nation of priests and a light to the nations, but she fell in sin just like any sinner would.  He gave it to both Jews and Gentiles.

These feast days are inextricably tied to the Son of God.  Our faith in Christ includes not only our faith in Him as our Groom, King and High Priest; as our Messiah, Lord and Savior, who lives out every single day of these feasts so that we may inherit eternity with Him and our Heavenly Father – but because of this, God gave these feast days to be observed by everyone who has faith in Him.

Besides the deception that brought about the fall of mankind into sin, perhaps Satan’s greatest deception is making people believe that the things taught in the Old Testament are only for Jews.  Why?  It is because it has led to the persecution of God’s people from the beginning and has divided and blinded all mankind from God’s truth.  From this came replacement theology and the pre-tribulation rapture doctrine; from this came anti-Semitism; from this came the division of the Jew and Gentile when the Bible says we should be one.

Clearly if you have read this article, then you must know deep in your heart that every bit of these feast days of God were given to us and for us, just as surely as Messiah Himself is given to us and for us.  They are tied together and cannot be separated.  The Bible gives them to all mankind so we may observe them.

If we say we are the bride of Christ and will live together with Him and His father, and we say we are the bountiful harvest of wheat that is gathered and not burned as tares, then we must not deceive ourselves – we know these feast days are meant for everyone, both Jew and Gentile.  Of course it does and it makes perfect sense: for if our groom is living out the wedding every single day since He started His ministry almost 2,000 years ago, now and into the future, then shouldn't we as His bride also be living out our part in the wedding?

We love our groom and we miss Him and want to be with Him.  We anxiously wait for His return.  This is why God gave us His feast days to observe; it is all about time – holy time with Him, to bring to mind our groom and what He has already done for us, continues to do for us even now, and what He will do upon His return.  It shows us what it really means to be purchased at a great price – the reason for it and what its end result is, when our abundant joyous hope of eternity with God and the Lamb becomes reality.  We observe to fully understand and appreciate the salvation plan of God and the role of the groom and our role as the bride.  It truly portrays a beautiful picture, but it is not only for us view, but to actually live in it. It shows us how awesome our God is, how much He loves us, and all that He has planned and does for us.

And if these feast days are for us, then the Law of God is as well.  The Bible does not teach the Jew half the truth, and at the same time teach the non-Jew the other half of the truth.  The Bible does not say the Law of God is only for Jews, but they must not believe that Jesus is the Messiah.  The Bible does not say that faith in Messiah is only for non-Jews, but they do not have to abide by the Law of God.

The Bible says we are to be new creations who imitate His son Jesus, and Jesus was a Jew who walked perfectly in the Law of His father.  God says we are supposed to have faith in His son and also be lovingly obedient to His commandments. Are we really being obedient to Him and showing our love for Him if we ignore His commandments and instead obey our own traditions?

For not only are we commanded to imitate Christ even though He is perfect, but the Bible tells us that the Lord Jesus is also the Lord of the Sabbath.  The Law of God is given to the lovingly obedient child of God just as much as these feast days are given to us.  If God’s feast days are important and for the believer to observe, so are God’s commandments.  Let us heed this truth lest when we think we stand, we will instead fall.

You know it in your heart that this is the truth and know what you must do.  This is what the Lord Jesus meant when He said He came to put members of a household against one another.  Faith in Jesus as the Messiah will put the Jew against members of his own household.  Worshipping in spirit and truth by imitating the Lord of the Sabbath and obeying the commandments of God as He did will put the non-Jew against members of his own household.

But let us be perfectly honest and blunt.  There is no time to play church.  It is very late, almost too late.  How much do we hunger and thirst for God’s truth?  How much do we love Him above everyone and everything else?  Are we willing to lay everything down no matter what the cost?

We must return to the faith once for all delivered to the saints.  It is the truth which sets us free.

The end times are here and there is no more time to play games.
